I am a ceramic artist based in Gloucester, Massachusetts. My love for the wheel has led me to create vessel forms, but with a twist. I enjoy deconstructing them and playing with imperfect, asymmetrical shapes. Through this process, I like to rebuild the form – a reflection of the imperfect beauty within ourselves. The metaphor of a vessel as being anthropomorphic has persisted in my work. A ceramic vessel has an inside, an outside, a lip, neck, shoulder, body and feet. So the body, my body and my personal experiences have been the seed of most of my work whether in 2D or 3D. My goal is to create vessels that not only serve a purpose but also spark a feeling of connection and reflection within the viewer.
